Azélie Bourassa
Azelie Bourassa creates contemporary dance works that examine the relationships between memory, touch, and space. Training in improvisation and somatic practices informs a movement language rooted in listening and presence.
Azélie studied Dance and Creative Performance at the University of Wolverhampton, with a focus on contemporary dance. She now teaches in a wide range of community dance settings, including care-experienced young people with Care to Dance, inclusive groups for young people, and dance for health and falls prevention with older adults. Her approach is rooted in a developmental, inclusive and trauma-informed practice. Her artistic practice explores vogue, connections to land and nature, and healing through movement from a disabled perspective.
